Product Overview

Integrated Skid-Mounted Design
Combines a horizontal storage tank, structural steel skid and selected auxiliary equipment into one assembly. The integrated layout simplifies equipment positioning and can reduce on-site assembly work.
Temperature-Controlled Storage
Optional thermal oil heating coils and external insulation help maintain the specified bitumen storage temperature. Heating duty is determined by bitumen grade, initial temperature, ambient conditions and required heat-up time.
Configurable System Layout
Tank capacity, heating arrangement, transfer pump, valves, instrumentation and control panel can be specified according to plant throughput, site utilities and installation requirements.

Main Features & Components

Storage Tank and Skid Frame
Carbon steel tank mounted on a structural steel base. Tank dimensions, gross volume, usable capacity and support configuration are confirmed during engineering.
Heating and Insulation
Thermal oil heating is available for compatible plant heating systems. Electric or burner-based alternatives can be evaluated according to project requirements. Rock wool insulation and metal cladding are optional.
Bitumen Pumping and Piping
Optional jacketed positive-displacement pumps, heated valves and insulated piping support bitumen transfer. Pump selection depends on medium viscosity, operating temperature, required flow rate and discharge pressure.
Instrumentation and Controls
Optional temperature sensors, level indicators, over-temperature alarms and PLC interfaces support monitoring and integration with the plant control system.

Manufacturing & Quality Control

Material Verification
Material grades and component specifications are checked against approved drawings and the bill of materials. Material certificates can be supplied as agreed.
Welding and Inspection
Welding procedures, visual inspection and required non-destructive testing are determined by the tank design, applicable code and project inspection plan.
Heating Circuit and Piping Tests
Heating coils and piping are inspected and tested according to their design conditions and approved procedures. Test methods and acceptance criteria are documented where required.
Assembly and Pre-Dispatch Inspection
The skid assembly can be inspected for equipment installation, piping connections, electrical interfaces and conformity with approved drawings. Factory acceptance testing is available when specified in the contract.
Quality Documentation
The agreed documentation package may include material certificates, applicable NDT reports, test records, inspection reports, approved drawings and operation and maintenance manuals.

Applications & Site Integration

Asphalt Mixing Plants
Provides a bitumen storage and feed buffer between deliveries and asphalt production. Required usable capacity depends on plant consumption, delivery intervals and reserve requirements.
Road Construction Projects
The skid-mounted arrangement can simplify relocation compared with separately installed equipment. Transport feasibility depends on overall dimensions, weight, lifting provisions and site access.
Bitumen Storage and Handling Facilities
Can serve as an intermediate storage and transfer unit when the selected tank, heating and pumping configuration matches the process requirements.
Site Requirements
Before ordering, confirm the heating source, electrical supply, process connections, support loads, lifting capacity, transport clearances and destination-market compliance requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the advantages of a skid-mounted horizontal bitumen tank?

A: The tank and selected auxiliary equipment are integrated on one skid, which can simplify positioning, equipment alignment and on-site assembly. Actual installation savings depend on the supply scope and site conditions.

Q: How should the tank capacity be selected?

A: Calculate the required usable capacity from daily bitumen consumption, delivery intervals and operating reserves. Gross tank volume should not be treated as fully usable capacity.

Q: Which heating system is suitable for bitumen storage?

A: Thermal oil heating is an option where a compatible thermal oil supply is available. Electric or burner-based heating may be considered following heating-duty calculations and a review of process and safety requirements.

Q: Can the tank be supplied as a complete skid-mounted system?

A: The supply scope can include the tank, pump, piping, valves, instrumentation and control panel. Factory-installed components, site connections, commissioning and customer-supplied utilities should be clearly defined before ordering.
